Privacy Policy
Effective 3 August 2026 · Black Campaign School Action Fund
This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do and do not do with it. Black Campaign School Action Fund ("Black Campaign School," "we," "us") operates blackcampaignschool.org and the free class series taught by Jessica Byrd.
The short version. We collect your name, e-mail, and if you choose to give it, your mobile number. We use it to teach you and tell you when class is. We do not sell your data. We do not rent it. We do not share your phone number or your SMS consent with anyone for their marketing. You can leave any time.
1. What we collect
You give us
- First and last name
- E-mail address
- Mobile phone number, only if you opt in to text messages
- Anything you tell us in a survey, a reply, or an e-mail to us
Collected automatically
- Standard web analytics: pages viewed, approximate country, referring site, browser type. We use Netlify Analytics, which reads server logs and does not place tracking cookies on your device.
- E-mail engagement: whether a message was opened and which links were clicked. This is standard Mailchimp tracking.
2. Why we use it
- To send you class announcements, reminders and recordings
- To run the class series and improve what we teach
- To understand who our audience is in aggregate so we can serve them better
- To meet legal and reporting obligations
We do not use your information for automated decisions that produce legal effects about you.
3. Text messages
We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile number or your SMS consent with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing purposes. Your number is used only to send you the messages described in our SMS Terms & Conditions, and it is processed by Intuit Mailchimp acting as our service provider.
Consent to receive texts is separate from consent to receive e-mail. Opting out of one does not opt you out of the other. Reply STOP to any text to end the text program.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who need it to operate this program, under contract, and only for that purpose:
- Intuit Mailchimp — e-mail and SMS delivery, audience management
- Netlify — website hosting and server-log analytics
- Google — form responses, where a survey is hosted on Google Forms
We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights or safety of any person. If the organization is ever merged, acquired, or dissolved, information may transfer as part of that transaction and this policy will follow it.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. How long we keep it
We keep contact information for as long as you remain subscribed, and for a reasonable period afterward for recordkeeping and to honor your opt-out. Records of your consent and your opt-out are retained as long as needed to demonstrate compliance.
6. Your choices and rights
- E-mail. Click unsubscribe in any message, or update your preferences from the footer of any e-mail.
- Text. Reply STOP to any message.
- Access, correction, deletion. E-mail win@blackcampaignschool.org and we will act on your request. Depending on where you live you may have rights under state privacy laws, including the right to know what we hold, to correct it, to delete it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.
We will not charge you or withhold service for exercising any of these rights.
7. Children
This program is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, e-mail us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use reputable service providers with industry-standard protections and we limit who on our side can access contact data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Where your data is processed
Our service providers operate in the United States. If you are outside the U.S. and choose to subscribe, your information will be processed in the United States.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date.
